Partially Domesticated Amazon: Exposed!

"Partially Domesticated Amazon" is a concept album about the observations, musings and struggles of a woman who feels out of place both in her personal life and in her culture. Newly emigrated from the remote, idyllic setting of her Amazonian home, the partially domesticated Amazon finds adjusting to the modern world deeply challenging. She uses music as therapy and as a way to document and make sense of the chaos of life. She is both strong and sensitive, sometimes overwhelmed by the inequities she sees and experiences in the world. She wants to be loved and accepted but is determined to honor her unique point of view and not be marginalized, minimized or “Barbie-fied.” She rejects the notion of strict gender roles and encourages others to find their unique voice and hold their own in a world full of plastic, homogenized stereotypes.

"Partially Domesticated Amazon: Exposed!" is the 1st in a series of 3 records entitled "Aural Elixir Three Ways." This series explores three different approaches to making an album from the same studio sessions. This first version is a live trio, 3 real time performances with no overdubs or other types of extreme electronic manipulation. With this CD, we pay homage to our musical ancestors. The few who were blessed with the opportunity to record their music did not have the luxuries afforded us by modern technology. They all gathered in one room and recorded their songs into one microphone, no computers, no special effects, no Auto-Tune, only people making music together in the same space and time.
"Partially Domesticated Amazon:Exposed!" shows our creativity, our strengths, our flaws, our individuality, our improvised synergistic convergences and captures the real moments involved in the mystical process of making music.

Love And Grappling CD - Aural Elixir's first release!

The first Aural Elixir release caused quite a wave in New Orleans and was very well received by music critics and listeners worldwide. Quirky, eclectic, rich with harmonies, thought provoking, often comical lyrics, rhythmic twists and melodic riffs this CD works wonders at a party, on a road trip or even doing chores around the house. Featuring Jesse Maclaine, Lynn Drury, Tim Robertson, Jim Ankar & Dylan Hicks, engineered by Chis Munson at RCA Studios, Nashville, Tennessee, 1999.

Anomaly, New Orleans Style - Aural Elixir's second release features jazz, rock, funk and acoustic music.

The second Aural Elixir CD is a wonderful combination of mellow and upbeat songs, including "Desert Road, Camel Coat" inspired by Joni Mitchell's album Hejira. Also part of this CD is the beautiful but strange, Number 2 Song, which was featured on the TV show, Louisiana Jukebox in 2001. The third song is a funky blues and the fourth an avante garde country song. The album is a melting pot of styles, a tribute to the rich cultural history of New Orleans and a "must have" for the discerning music lover.

Bedspread Jumpsuit CD - Rootsy Aural Elixir Trio

No drums on the third edition to the Aural Elixir album catalog. This cd was recorded in 2003 during the Bedspread Jumpsuit tour. It features Jesse Maclaine, Lynn Drury & Jim Ankar. The songs are sort of acoustic but still feature rich melodic layers and the thoughtful lyrics that are a hallmark to any Aural Elixir song.

Lick It & Like It, Aural Elixir Live! - The only live recording of the Aural Elixir band, available for a limited time!

Recorded during 2001's "Everywhere all At Once" tour, this show was at Herman's Hideaway in Denver, CO. The band was delirious from driving but determined to put on a great show for the very enthusiastic crowd. This cd is a great representation of the contagious good energy of a live Aural Elixir show. Play it at your next party and get everyone dancing!
